a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; Ecclesiastes 3:6-8
Our St Mary Quilters are an active and vibrant part of the St Mary community. The group has seen many members come and go through its 100 years of service.
Evening quilters meet on Mondays and Thursday evenings 5:00-9:00pm throughout the Fall and Winter months. They gather at the home of one of the quilting ladies. Call Paula Korson 231-256-9670 or watch the bulletin to find out where the group will hold it’s evening sessions of sewing and sharing.
The quilts shown here reflect the work these ladies do all year round. The quilts are on display, are for sale and are part of their raffle at the Annual Quilt and Raffle Show on Memorial weekend, at our Annual Parish Chicken Dinner held the 2nd Sunday in July as well as at the Port Oneida Days Fair during the summer.
Proceeds from the quilters benefit St Mary Parish and School. This year’s annual donations and sales have generated $4,981.00. The money has been used for technology at the school, computers and software for the whole campus and many other areas. We are so grateful for their generosity of Time, Talents and Treasures.
The quilters also accept jobs on consignment as well as make repairs to family heirlooms.
They graciously accept donations of embroidered squares, quilt tops, fabric, needles, thread, batting and other materials. Do you have a quilt top ready for construction? Please call Ruth Kalchik or Paula Korson to see where you might offer help.
