Adult Faith Formation

Anyone in ministry is always happy to provide resources and support to people who want to learn more about the faith and grow through faith-sharing or prayer experiences. There are a variety of opportunities for Adult Faith Formation at St. Mary of the Assumption parish. Some are ongoing while others change frequently. Check the St. Mary bulletin for the latest news.

Yes, only with and through him we can all maintain peace on earth and in our hearts.

Men’s Group

One of the largest and oldest ongoing opportunities is the Men’s Group. September through April they meet at 7:30 a.m. Saturday mornings in the church basement to continue the highly acclaimed series “That Man Is You”. Summer months they meet at 8:00a.m. to discuss the weekly readings.

The “Leelanau Catholic Men’s Group”, which has been meeting for close to 10 years at the St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church Social Hall, welcomes all men who truly seek to “go deeper” into their lives and into their faith. Their Mission Statement says it very well:

“We reach out to all men especially those on the Leelanau Peninsula. We are intent on helping
one another grow strong in our faith and become better Husbands, Fathers, Neighbors,
Citizens and Disciples…, with Catholicism as our structure, Christ as our
Foundation and Mentor and the Holy Spirit as our Guide”

Evangelization Ministry

The Evangelization Ministry sponsors the book giveaway program each year at the parish and also hosts book studies. There are two studies this year for women: “33 Days to Morning Glory”, based on the Blessed Virgin, and “Consoling the Heart of Jesus”. For further information, call Sue Wright by contacting the parish office.

In addition, the Evangelization Ministry sponsors a day retreat for women every year. Check the bulletin for the date and topic.

Parish Presentations

These are usually not ongoing. Past programs have included lecture series by Fr. Barron and a slide show about Pope Francis.

Possible programs for the spring include a Lenten program about the Jewish Passover meal and how it helps us appreciate Easter.

The Leland Historical Museum will host an open house program on the history of St. Mary parish. Date TBA

In response to requests, we are looking for opportunities in family Mission/Service projects and Catholic Social Teaching.
