Priest – Rev. Michael Janowski

Father Michael JanowskiPriest – Rev. Michael Janowski graduated from Mercy College of Detroit (now University of Detroit Mercy) with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Philosophy. Fr. Michael received a Master of Divinity degree from Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, WI. He was ordained a priest in 2003. Fr. Michael has been the pastor of St. Mary Parish & School and the superintendent of St. Mary School since 2005.


Deacon John Ashmore

  Deacon John AsmoreDeacon John Ashmore has been an ordained Catholic Deacon for 10 years through the Diocese of Grand Rapids. He is working with Bishop Hebda to be incardinated into the Diocese of Gaylord. He has earned a Master of Pastoral Studies Degree from Loyola University in Chicago and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. Deacon John has more than 20 years’ experience in parish youth ministry and faith formation programs. He is an adjunct staff for the Center for Ministry Development in the Certificate Program in Youth Ministry, a college level program that prepares adults to lead in youth ministry programs in the Catholic Church. He also serves as a program director for Young Neighbors in Action program, a national missions program for high school students, and has served in the Just5Days program, a missions program for middle school students. He has extensive experience in parish and diocesan work and has earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Youth Ministry from the Center for Ministry Development. He has served as a Director of Youth Ministry, Faith Formation Director, Pastoral Associate, and most recently as the Stewardship and Lifelong Learning Coordinator for St. Patrick Catholic Church. Currently, John and his wife, Laura, live in Glen Arbor and are the parents of three children and two grandchildren.

Michael Collins

M CollinsDirector of Religious Education – Michael Collins received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and then an Masters in Business Administration in Finance, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Michael has earned his Certified Public Accountant certificate, and he is certified by the American Production and Inventory Control Society at the Fellow Level (CFPIM). He also received a Certified Boardmember Award from the Michigan Association of School Boards. Michael has five daughters, all of whom have attended St. Mary School. He and his wife Jennifer own and operate Two Fish Gallery in Leland. Most recently, Michael received his Certification in Christian Discipleship through the Diocese of Gaylord’s Center for Catholic Studies. Michael has been the Director of Religious Education for St. Mary Parish since 2008 and also served as the MS/HS Theology Teacher at St. Mary from 2009-2012.
