Adult Faith Formation

Anyone in ministry is always happy to provide resources and support to people who want to learn more about the faith and grow through faith-sharing or prayer experiences. There are a variety of opportunities for Adult Faith Formation at St. Mary of the Assumption parish. Some are ongoing while others change frequently. Check the St. Mary bulletin for the latest news.

Yes, only with and through him we can all maintain peace on earth and in our hearts.

Men’s Group

One of the largest and oldest ongoing opportunities is the Men’s Study Group. The men’s group begins their weekly meeting by attending 8:00 am Mass each Saturday morning.  Then, they head to the Social Hall in the church basement to continue the highly acclaimed series “That Man Is You” September through April. During the Summer months they continue to meet at 8:30a.m. to discuss the weekly readings in preparation for Sunday Mass.

The “Leelanau Catholic Men’s Group”, which has been meeting for close to 10 years at the St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church Social Hall, welcomes all men who truly seek to “go deeper” into their lives and into their faith. Their Mission Statement says it very well:

“We reach out to all men especially those on the Leelanau Peninsula. We are intent on helping
one another grow strong in our faith and become better Husbands, Fathers, Neighbors,
Citizens and Disciples…, with Catholicism as our structure, Christ as our
Foundation and Mentor and the Holy Spirit as our Guide”

Evangelization Ministry

The Evangelization Ministry sponsors a book giveaway program, opportunities for community prayer, supplies new material for our library lending cart,  offers new material for purchase in the Gathering Space book sale rack, schedules volunteers to  lead the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet and is always looking for new members.

In addition, the Evangelization Ministry sponsors a Women’s Advent Retreat Day  every year. Check the bulletin in mid to late November for schedule, date, guest speaker and topic.

Parish Presentations

These are usually not ongoing. Past programs have included lecture series by Fr. Barron and a slide show about Pope Francis.

Possible programs for the spring include a Lenten program about the Jewish Passover meal and how it helps us appreciate Easter.
